    If it was other than burning with air then the answer was oxidation by using an appropriate oxidizing agent such as potassium dichromate (VI). I've screwed my paper just because I didn't pay attention to the questions. An old habit of mine. :(

    The resistance increases so the voltage across the RESISTOR increases, this means that a lower voltage is supplied against the capacitor which means that it will charge and discharge slowly and hence, less often.

    Actually, it is soluble, that's why it is used as a neutralizer for soil acidity! I think it should. I googled it, it says 'soluble'.
