    Chemistry MCQ thread...

    @smartangel Use the equation: CaCO3 ---> CaO + CO2 Total of 1200 x 10^6 x 10^3 kg of CaCO3 are roasted So No. of moles = (1200 x 10^6 x 10^3) / (40 + 12 + 48) = 1.2 x 10^10 mol. CaO : CO2 = 1 : 1 So No. of moles of CO2 produced = 1.2 x 10^10 mol Therefore mass of CO2 produced = (1.2 x...

    chem mcq...

I think the question is talking about the formation of alkenes from alcohols in the presence of H2SO4. I think it is A and B only are correct as alcohols >> alkenes >> aldehydes / ketones due to cleavage of double bond.

    Physics p22

@Mobeen. That wasn't a silly mistake. That was a pretty conceptual mistake.

    Physics p22

Thank God. Mine is correct too. 2 marks had me worried.

    Physics p22

@HamzaInam i think you used the distance CP directly without doubling it. You had to double it to get the distance between the two bright fringes i.e. x in: wavelength = (ax) / d. The phase difference was 2pi for bright one (constructive interference) and pi for the dark one (destructive...

    Physics p22

We did. We had to subtract the drag force from the weight of the drop to get the resultant force. I made that very mistake earlier in the paper. I found acceleration from the drag force directly. Then i remembered that we had to subtract it from the weight. The answers either way are pretty close.

    Physics p22

Yeah mine was also 4.9 ms^-2 as well. In the Young Modulus question i told to draw up a graph of force on y-axis and extension on x-axis. Find its gradient and multiply it by (original length / cross section area). The apparatus was the wire itself hung from a ceiling with a pointer and weight...

How was your Physics Paper 22?

No other problems except i drew the graph in the first question wrong. Anyway what was your wavelength in the last questions last part? Mine was 639 nm but many people wrote 319 nm????

How was your Physics Paper 22?

Today's paper was surprisingly easy. The Young's Modulus question was kinda FSc-ish but other than that no issues right?

    Phase difference waves AS!

They might not be identical exactly. Cos' their amplitudes might be different. Other than that i'm with you. Cheers.

    Physics Momentum AS QS! Help!

Its simple. If something is initially travelling in the forward direction then its velocity is positive. But after collision, if it starts to travel backwards then its velocity is negative. The common mistake here is that when we look at the velocity time graph we tend to ignore the sign with...

    Any guesses for physics p22

Guessing isn't going to help you out. Make sure you do all the past papers and revise all your concepts a day before the exam. Then relax. :)

    The Ultimate AS Physics Thread

One wavelength of a wave consists of 360 degrees. So 60 /360 = 1/6 th of wavelength. So divide the given wave into 6 equal parts and draw the new wave from one part ahead of the old wave. For the amplitude we have intensity directly proportional to (amplitude)^2. First wave's amplitude is 10...

    Physics reasonable estimates? :/

I hate estimations. Its pretty damn easy to make a mistake here. Just common sense and experience i guess. But make sure you go through the frequencies and wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum. They are usually quite problematic. :good:

It will be pretty high as the paper was pretty straightforward. And the coding and algorithms were too easy. @Psychoist what mistakes did u make???

    the perfect titre......!!!!!

@Anonymousx3: Yes you can still get an A with a C in practical. And i don't think the titre has to be the same for each lab. The teachers for that school perform the practical and the values of the candidates should be close to the values of the teachers. 8)

    MATHS P12

@ks136. You should draw a diagram to simplify the sort of problem that was finding the vector OD. So i drew a parallelogram ABCD. When you look at it you see that |AB| = |DC| and |BC| = |AD|. And AB is parallel to DC and BC is parallel to AD. If you invert the vector BA you found earlier you...

    MATHS P12

Yes Yes Yes :Bravo: :Bravo: :Bravo: Those are the exact coordinates of OD vector (8i + 1j + 8k). And the logic behind it was absurdly simple now that i think of it.
