A level Biology: Post your doubts here!

Very good question. There are two ways to go about it. One way, which I don't recommend, is remembering that cholesterol is not found on the outer surface. You can infer that from the fact that in our books' diagrams, they never show cholesterol in the outer membrance of the cell surface...

A level Biology: Post your doubts here!

Because its affinity for oxygen does NOT change with altitude. :p the affinity itself remains the same. The curve we study is of the percentage SATURATION of haemoglobin with oxygen against partial pressure of oxygen (the s shaped curve) and it remains the same. What changes is the percentage of...

    HOW WAS CHEMISTRY P42 MAY/JUNE 2017 (POLL)

Exactly. The reason why our product is wrong though is as my friend pointed out that they emphasized that Na is in excess. So even though NaHSO3 would be formed the final product would be Na2SO3. We missed the 'excess' part. :/

    HOW WAS CHEMISTRY P42 MAY/JUNE 2017 (POLL)

Oh yes I think that's fine mine was also pretty "rotated". I think that won't matter as long as the structure is correct.

A level Biology: Post your doubts here!

Have my 33 practical tomorrow. All seems set except one confusion. When making plan diagrams, what do I do at the "boundary" of the image I'm drawing? I'm referring to situations where they ask us to make the bottom 1/4 of an image for example. That would be a perfect rectangle or a square so...

I didn't put charges  now whattttt

    HOW WAS CHEMISTRY P42 MAY/JUNE 2017 (POLL)

It wasnt. I got 81 too and messed it all up. How did you write the formula with Mr 81? It was above 120 and it has to do with the equations written for NaOH and SO2. You and I probably made the same mistake of writing NaHSO3 as a product rather than Na2SO3.

Hahhaaha absolutely beautiful! If only the education system awarded A*s on wit and humor. :(

    HOW WAS CHEMISTRY P42 MAY/JUNE 2017 (POLL)

Hmmm yeah that was pretty hard too. lets see what others say. Thankfully my p2 and p5 went well enough so if p3 and p1 go good then A* is still possible.

    HOW WAS CHEMISTRY P42 MAY/JUNE 2017 (POLL)

Veeery ugly paper left 10 marks anyway and dunno about the rest. Saddening experience. Everyone I know found it hard. Much worse reaction than biology P4.

How was Physics P42 MJ 2017??

I forgot the precise wordings that I should write so I didn't write that steps width etc. would change but I explained it quantitatively in a way that more steps would be formed at shorter time intervals etc. And for the more bits I wrote that greater accuracy as more binary numbers will be...

How was Physics P42 MJ 2017??

Never knew SRK was giving A levels too :3 Anyway, it was electric field not gravitation field, and I used F = qE then F = ma, so ma = qE, a = qE/m, used q and m from the data provided at the startof the question paper read E off of y axis at x axis = 5 cm. For the rest of your queries. Firstly...

    How was Biology Paper 42 MAY/JUNE 2017?

However, I'm still disappointed that CIE gave this in the question paper. If my theory is correct and the question was about this white masking gene, then that is about 'epistasis', which the syllabus says in 16.2 b) use genetic diagrams to solve problems involving monohybrid and dihybrid...

    How was Biology Paper 42 MAY/JUNE 2017?

It really does. I looked it up the moment I came back home and it seems that there are 3 distinct versions with their own reasons of white color in cats. From Wikipedia: The "C" gene codes for the enzyme tyrosinase, the first step in pigment production. Its recessive alleles determine whether a...

    How was Biology Paper 42 MAY/JUNE 2017?

Hahah great minds think alike. Puri duniya ne ya tou repressor protein (linking it to lac operon / transcription factors) wala likha ya koi aur reason. And aik maine aur tumne ye likha hai. I thought I was the only one who linked it to albinism. feels good to know am not alone. I wrote exacty...

How was Physics P42 MJ 2017??

It was a lovely paper. Just had some time issues got stuck in the second question in converting 3/2K to 3/2R, but I did manage to do it. The time delay though caused me to leave out some 3 or so marks in those 'suggest/explain/state' type questions. Calculations all went swell.

    How was Biology Paper 42 MAY/JUNE 2017?

I think so. There was like so much to write my answer was going to be longer than the a) part lol. So yeah I wrote similar to that. Discussed humidity, temperature, light intensity, dryness/wind with their vice versa as well in the explanation and a general comment on why it needs to do this...

    How was Biology Paper 42 MAY/JUNE 2017?

I and a couple of others in my centre completely lost that 1 mark in p42 for the base pairs for no reason at all. I was panicking so hard I kept dividing 668 by 3 instead of multiplying it. Only when I was on my way back did it occur to me what blunder I had made. XD Anyway, for the high and low...
