    Maths (Paper 3)

A few more hours left to go for the exam. Alright, right now I am open to ALL queries. I will even post images of how to do them (as long as it does not take TOO much effort). :D

This should help explain the shading business Picture courtesy of Charidon:

    Maths (Paper 3)

Yes there is charidon. And here comes one right now. This is for those who don't get the shading idea.

    Maths (Paper 3)

Read back in the thread, I have even posted a diagram that I made myself strictly for the purpose of posting on this thread.

    Maths (Paper 3)

No, there is a numerical method. All you have to do is solve for the two answers and check the solution for both of them. One will not fit because the modulus will cancel the negative of one side and so only one solution can be taken. Reference: J2006 q2

    Maths (Paper 3)

    |z - 1|<|z - i| means the distance between z and 1 is less than the distance between z and i. Now, taking the case in which the distance between them is equal, we draw a line that perpendicularly bisects the line that goes through 1 and i. The shaded region will be on the side closer to 1...

    Maths (Paper 3)

differentiate the expression using the quotient rule. if dy/dx = gradient of tangent then -dx/dy = gradient of normal So, take its negative reciprocal and proceed from there

    Maths (Paper 3)

Alright, anything else you'd like me to cover? I can do past paper questions but would prefer not to. Ask me questions that regard conceptual perspectives. Like: why this? why not this? how does this make sense? why do we have to do this? is there an easier way to do this? Teach me how to do...

    Maths (Paper 3)

Shading Alright, how many of you have done the inequality shading stuff while in school? When we made a parabola, we'd have to shade the parts for which y > 0 and what not. In the complex plane, this is not very different. There is this other type of graphical representation called the polar...

    Maths (Paper 3)

Min |z| and max |z| on a circle Alright, if you draw a circle, you will find that there is a point closest to the origin. There are no special cases, and the point closest to the origin will ALWAYS be the closer point of intersection of the line passing through the origin and the centre of the...

    Maths (Paper 3)

Numerical way of calculating the maximum and minimum argument of a complex locus Alright, so the locus we usually get is in the form of a circle. Wherever the circle is, it will have a set of complex numbers that follow its requirements. Similarly, the locus has a point with min argument and...

    How was Biology Paper 5?

Lol, LET'S START A THREAD FOR THAT! It's gonna be fun, I had a good time posting on that Biology P5 thread. DW, Chemistry is simple, just like physics. Well, I have math tomorrow so I may not be of assistance today but I'll be up on XPF all the time for Chem P4 (again, rhyme intended :D )

    How was Biology Paper 5?

I didn't mention the graph either, I was just saying the values would be used for reference to oneself, not in the exam, lol. We had like 3 lines, who would mention the graph for the explanation?

    How was Biology Paper 5?

Yeah, you'll have to get a 100% or more (uniform %-wise) to get an A* now and I ain't hoping for it. My bio is bad, after it hit A2, my straight topping streaks in Bio dropped to a dead-end, but I will try. P4 is a pain. I got a 90% in Chemistry in AS, I think I can pull an A*, I am pro at P4...

    How was Biology Paper 5?

Not for the water potential of the plant tissues we didn't. We, however, had to discuss them when it came to the comparison between the 0.2 mol/dm3 and 0.8mol/dm3 solutions' effects on the plant cells. I even labelled the nucleus and the vacuole along with the cell wall and cytoplasm (LOL) :D

    How was Biology Paper 5?

WHOA, that's really something! Nice going! I mentioned keeping the temperature and the pH constant (using a thermostatically controlled water bath and using a Phosphate buffer) I also mentioned using more concentrations for accuracy and repeating the procedure at the same concentrations for...

    How was Biology Paper 5?

DW about the standard error, you got it right and 'sides, it was just a mark. It also measures the reliability (unreliability) of the data
