    Okay, first find the time taken by sound to travel the given distance via the steel rails. So, Time = Dist/ Speed → 120/5000 = 0.024 s Then the time taken to travel the same distance via air.     Well, I think it is. And the reason being that to discharge electrons from the cathode, a very high voltage is required, which eliminates A and B. Also, since in a cathode ray, the two electrodes are fixed... ie cathode and anode do not change → unidirectional current is used. Which means dc aka D.
