You are doing it wrong man. It'll be x-1<2x and x-1>-2x. And so you get x>1/3 and x>-1. The final answer is x>1/3 and x<-1. My question is that why do you eliminate x<-1 and the final answer is only x>1/3. I found out the answers correctly but no idea why x<-1 was eliminated. You didn't find the... -

Are you sure? x-1<2x and x-1>-2x is same? I don't think so. x-1>-2x will become 1-x<2x, which is NOT the same as x-1<2x. -
