    when the energy of a particle is very less(far less than a joule), the unit eV (electronvolt) is used. 1 eV is the energy transferred when an electron travels through a pd of 1 V. M is the prefix denoting mega ie 10^6 So, 1 Mev = 1 * 10^6 eV
