well for the first one its just -k since it will be in the second quadrant which there tan is negative second one explained above third one the opposite is K and the adjacent is 1 , find the hypotenus in terms of K via pythaguras theroem , and sin(X) is opp/hyp

    maths.....tough thinking

draw on a cast diagram the angles X and 90-X find tan of X will be opposite/adjacent(yaxis/Xaxis) if u do the same for the 90-X the opposite will be the Xaxis and the adjacent will be the Yaxis wich is the inverse of tanx which will make it 1/tanx

    maths P1 nov 2008 why -ve ????

as u can see in front of the cos(X) there is a minus sign hence when finding maximum value u will take cos(X) as -1 so the minius goes with the minus and become positve a-(b*-1) which will be a+b=10 where as when cos (X) is 1 a-(b*1) which will be a-b=-2

    tan x =k wats sinx

well for i) u can clearly see that for the j component-it is 4 since it is midway k-it is 5 since it is 5 units above i-(14-6) the bottom length minus the top lenght divide by 2 will give u the distance try it out and hopefully if u understand my terrible explanation second part will be very easy

    tan x =k wats sinx

well a tanx is equal to opposite/adjacent that makes the opposite K and the adjacent 1 find using pythagorus therom the hypotinus in terms of K after that sinx is opposite/hyp hope it helps
