    Grade thresholds

Does anyone know when the grade thresholds for the M/J 2013 papers will be released or where to find them if they have already been released? :) since XP hasn't updated their past papers page yet...

    Component grade

Yes you can. Just ace the P4 with 80+ marks and P5 with 25+ marks and your A* is 100% guaranteed but obviously its not as easy as it sounds you need to work really hard! Plus A2 has almost 1/4th more weightage for your A levels result than your AS grade, thats why some people who get a high C in...

Hey guys, i gave my AS level and i got A's in physics, chemistry n maths.Need some suggestion.

Also make sure you apply for the university within 1 year of you recieving your SAT score as some unis consider a SAT score older than 6 months/1 year an expired score! try to spend 2 months on SAT 1 minimum with atleast 20-30 past papers solved (1 past paper = 5 hours) and for SAT 2 one month...

Hey guys, i gave my AS level and i got A's in physics, chemistry n maths.Need some suggestion.

You should aim for atleast 2100+ in SAT 1. And since you're a science student you will have to give SAT 2 as well but for science students that is easy, there should be no prob getting 2000+ in SAT 2 comfortably! as far as NUS fees/financial aid inquiries are concerned go look at there website...

Hey guys, i gave my AS level and i got A's in physics, chemistry n maths.Need some suggestion.

Application matters more than grades/scores. I also have a friend who got rejected from MIT with a 2360 SAT 1 score. Universities don't want the highest scoring students only, they want high scoring students which keep balance in other activities! i'm sure u heard about ali moeen nawazish? he...

Hey guys, i gave my AS level and i got A's in physics, chemistry n maths.Need some suggestion.

If you have straight As in AS then make sure you try for NUS. its very tough to get into but as long as you get straight As then number of subjects doesnt matter too much, and lisa is right. try and get a high SAT score in SAT 1 and it will really be in your favour ;) also try to get atleast...

    Graddddddddddddddddddddddddddddeeeees

Theres no need to re-take if you got a B in AS cause you can turn that into an A without any problem if you maintan consistency and hardwork in A2 plus if you re-take it will only make you lose focus from the first few months of A2 and those are the most important to build your platform for the...

    Physics /12 Discussion!

No, we had to see the ratio since they asked the possible values and not exact. You could even solve the question by using a derived gas law which in this case would've been P1/h1 = P2/h2 since ϼ and g were constants. If you simplify it this way you will also get h1:h2 = 2:1 :)

Distance in the train and markers question = 600m. Person jumping from the air balloon and attaining terminal velocity = Option B i.e a graph of air resistance - time with an increasing curve and then a horizontal line.

    Physics /12 Discussion!

When the final velocity is given as 0, we will square the initial velocity. Since F=ma, which can also be written as F= m(v-u/t) which can further be re-arranged as F=m/t (v-u). Now v was 0 in the question, and m/t is = density x area x velocity (proof of this is that when you write this...

    Physics /12 Discussion!

Actually it is :p when two forces of unequal magnitude act on a single point with an angle of 90° or less between them then resultant ALWAYS lies closer to the componenet with greater magnitude :) basic concept of the vectors chapter.

    Physics /12 Discussion!

I don't remember which option it was but the key word in that question was resultant of the LINES OF ACTION of the two forces. Their lines of action met at the centre hence 1 thing was confirmed that resultant would also come out from the centre, and resultant always acts along the component...

    Physics /12 Discussion!

The answer for the force exerted when the wind hits the wall was 16000N. CALCULATIONS: Force exerted by air was supposed to be calculated from newton's second law of momentum which is: F = ϼAv^2 F = 1.2 x 12 x (33)^2 F = 15681N ≈ 16000N hence option D. The answers for h1 and h2 of the mercury...

    Physics Paper 12

The paper wasn't tough nor easy but rather lengthier than usual and I had around 4 MCQs left when 1 hour had passed. GT should be around 27-29. If anyone wants to discuss the answers just inbox me ;)
