I thought that wasn't your question :)

First write 0.125 as a fraction : 1/8

Then write 1/8 as a power of 2:

1/8 = 1/2^3 = 2^(-3)

So what's n?

When you multiply two powered numbers, you add the powers so:

2^(4n) * 2^(2n) = 2^(4n + 2n) = 2^(6n)

Also, 512 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 2^9


So you can rewrite the original equation 2^4n * 2^2n =512 :

2^(6n) = 2^9

Can you finish it from here?

2^4n+2n = 512
2^6n = 512
64n = 512
n = 512/64
n = 8
wait. somethings wrong..
2^(6n) is not the same as 64n

Unless you mean 2^6 * n.

But I think 2^4n * 2^2n = 512 means

2^(4n) * 2^(2n) = 512.
