A* at IGCSE

Hey!

Does anyone know how to get an A* at any subject? Do you need good marks in all components or do they just consider the overall percentage? Does anyone have an estimation of approximate A* grade boundaries, for example, Maths, Business Studies or Physics? CIE says they award A* grades to oustanding achievements, but does that mean they want us to score 95+% ? Anyone could give me some insight?

And, also, do we get to know how much we've got in each paper? Or our overall percentage? Are universities informed about it?

Thanks a lot!

I'll just answer the questions I know.

You don't get to know how much you got in each paper. You just get your overall grade. But Cambridge sent a detailed report to your school so your teacher will know what you got in paper1, paper2, etc. You can ask him/her if you want to know.

You can look at grade thresholds to get an idea of what grade you need in each component to get an A. They don't tell you about A* though.

And some teachers tell me you have to get an A in each component for an A in the subject but others say they take the overall mark. I really don't know.

But once again, I think you should forget about this and just focus on the exams. Don't worry about the results until 12th August ;)

Thanks for your reply! It's just that I'm a bit nervous about Maths, because I wanted an A* so badly and I guess I'm eating my head up unnecessarily.

Thanks again! ;)
