asalamoalaikum !!! last year I took my Cambridge As level physics and this year i was registered to take my A2 level physics , but unfortunately i missed paper 4 due to unprecedented circumstances. so my question is if i choose to take paper 5 (even though i missed paper 4) will my overall Alevel result be graded or will i receive a U for "ungraded" ?

If you did not appear for a paper you will be given a U (ungraded). I had to miss all of my papers in one session and I got a certificate that said U for all the subjects.

Send an application form to cie along with proof of what happened... and they will provide you with another exam.....and you will be graded by viewing your other subject grades.....and along with your performance.....

What happens if the candidate arrives after the
exam has finished?
If a candidate arrives after the other candidates have
left the exam room, you must not allow them to sit the
exam. You should warn them that we may issue a ‘no
result’ mark in the subject affected. If the candidate has
an acceptable reason for missing the exam, your Centre
should apply for special consideration and attach evidence
showing why the candidate missed the exam.

Being marked absent will still give you zero percent for that paper. You may still get a grade for the AS depending on how well you did on the rest of the components, however your only option is to resit all Physics papers again in November. It's too late to fix now, so just move on and concentrate on whatever other subjects you have left.
