Well then allow me to brief you about A levels.
1. Doing A levels privately or through is completely depends on personal preference i.e if you want social life and Extra curriculars activites you should join a school for A level. However, if you are a loner or Anti-social kind of a guy be free to do A levels privately. Obviously you would say that a person can maintain social without going to school but i disagree social life is not all about social interaction but also about social learning (read: personality building for which school is vital. Although, there can be exceptional circumstances whereby a person choses to do A levels within one year for which joining school is irrelevant.

2.A levels is divided into AS level and A2 level. Most subjects have 4 papers to complete A levels ( 2 to be appeared in AS level and 2 to be appeared in A2 level). A candidate can appear for complete A level in one session or can chose to appear in them in different session (mostly with one year gap for e.g AS level in May session 2011 and A2 level in May 2012).

3.For commerce group there can be many subject combinations plus you could even take an extra-elective. General paper (english) or English Language is near to mandatory for university admissions and is only offered at AS level. Following are the popular subject combinations for commerce students at A level (excluding General paper):
-Accounting, Mathematics, Economics (most popular amongst students)
- Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Psychology (second most popular)
-Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, sociology
-Accounting, Accelerated Mathematics (complete A level taken in 1st year mathematics), Economics, Furthermathematics (if you love mathematics and are good at it)
-Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Business studies (no recommended since B.S and economics course work overlap)
-Accounting, Mathematics, Business studies
-Accounting, Mathematics, Business studies, sociology/Psychology

4. Candidates can also pursue a subject only till AS level. Only advisable for extra elective.

5. Candidates appearing for A level mathematics can take different combinations of papers P1 (AS level) & p3 ( A2 level) are compulsory however candidate can either choose to appear for M1 or S1 at AS level and choose between S2 (if S1 taken at AS level)/M2 (if M1 taken at AS level)/S1 at A level(if M1 taken at AS level)/M1(if S1 taken at AS level).

6. Now coming to credits. Mathematics is almost compulsory for Commerce students, followed by Economics and then Accounting. Furthermathematics is considered to be difficult but is heavily credited and recommended by universities. Business studies is not credited if taken with Economics. Psychology is credited if taken as an additional elective.

My advise would be to take Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Furthermathematics( if you can handle the pressure) or Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Psychology. Taking an addition subject would be to your advantage as universities like it. However, 3 subjects taken with general paper would not cause any harm.

Cheers!

Well A level Mathematics consists of three main elements:
1)Pure Mathematics (p1 & p3)
2)Mechanics (M1 & M2)
3) Statistics (S1 & S2)

The Pure mathematics papers are compulsory where p1 is taken at AS level and P3 is taken in A2 level. Apart from pure mathematics candidates can either choose to specialise in Mechanics (take M1 and M2 in AS level and A2 level respectively) or Statistics (take S1 and S2 in AS level and A2 level respectively). or can take a mixture of two (M1 and S1 in any order).

It is better for natural science students to take Mechanics (some physics coursework overlap) . While Commerce students are encouraged to take statistics papers. However, since M2 and S2 are not available in all schools the most common combination is S1 & M1.

Hope this clarifies any confusion.
