Yeah man. I am!

Tips? Yeah. Study all the microscopic slides listed in the past papers and learn to draw their plan and detailed diagrams!

Memorise them then it will help you in the exam.

Well its pretty hard to predict what would come out but it is always good to remember what has appeared in past practicals. Usually qn 1 will be the actual practical. Topics such as food tests, osmosis, enzymes, dilutions are quite popular. Well there might be the odd experiments such as transpiration whereby you have to use a potometer. They also like to ask for limitations and improvements so be wary of that. So basically in qn 1 they could ask you to do anything as it is mentioned in the syllabus 'Includes questions set in different areas of AS Biology, and may include material from unfamiliar contexts'. They usually give you a 2nd part in the qn 1 whereby you have to interpret data usually in the form of a table and plot a graph. Be wary of axes(dependant variables on y axis ans independent variables on the x axis) and anomalous results. Then comes the question where the examiner would say, heres a students hypothesis and from the graph determine wether his hypothesis is correct or not. Ok qn done.... phew :) on towards qn 2. Here they would usually give you a slide and ask you to draw either a low or high powered digram. BE CAUTIOUS, do not include drawings of cells in low powered digrams as your are expected to draw a plan digram. Also be sure to read the instructions as to draw only a section or the whole specimen. No shading and DRAW WHAT YOU SEE NOT WHAT YOU KNOW. Popular topics include cell division, xerophytes, stem, root, blood vesssels and blood cells. Callibration of eyepiece graticule and measuring dimensions and magnification is popular as well. In the second part you would usually get a digram whereby the examiner would ask you to compare and contrast with the slide provided and the digram. Phew that was a lot and I will update from time to time :p good luck with your revisions :)
