AS is basically the 1st year of A level. The second year is called A2. When you complete both AS and A2 you would have completed A level.

There are two ways to complete your A'levels. Either, give 2 to 3 of the 4-5 papers of a certain subject in the first year that is then called AS level and you get a grade for that which is later combined with the grade of the rest of the 2 papers that you give in the second year (A2) to make up your A'levels grade, or you may give all the 4-5 papers in one session after two years without AS and A2 to directly get an A'levels grade.

I recommend complete A Level since it saves times, money and increases maturity of a student which is required to tackle interlinked topics.

In BDC does the student make the choice or does it depend on school policy????

Their policies keep changing so it's best to get in touch with them to make an educated decision.
