A niche is a specie role inside a community. The ecological niche of an organism depends not only on where it lives but also on what it does (how it transforms energy, behaves, responds to and modifies its physical and biotic environment) and how it is constrained by other organisms. answer from a book.

Walikum Salaam!

It is a description of the precise way in which an organism fits into its environment. In simple terms, any definition of an organism's niche must refer to where it lives and what it does there. For example, the mud-skipper lives in mangrove swamps and feeds on small worms and crustaceans in the mangrove mud. A very important ecological principal is that no two species have exactly the same ecological niche... Every organism in the habitat has its OWN important role which it plays... The function of an organism or the role it plays in the habitat is known as ecological niche....

the thing that captain danger mentioned that no two species can have exactly same niche is particularly imp. from exams point of view.....b/c if this happens then 2 species will start to compete with each other for the same resources and species with more advantageous characteristics will be the one to prevail applying the principles of natural selection
