Can anybody tell how to do maginification?

i know that its =

__________ X magnification (if given)

BUT MS SAYS THAT = ALLOWANCE FOR X100 (or whatever maginification specified) what does that mean ............... are we not supposed to multiply the ratio by the maginfied? or what?

If the question doesn't state any magnification then you have to multiply the ratio by 100x if it has then you have to multiply it by the given one...
