Yeah, I know that. But then the colours in both MCQs confused me :( :( They are similar but have different colour changes...

Look, there is another possibility! Not all the CO2 is used up! It's only its concentrations which has decreased after 3 hours! Innit?

You should really see that yellow is only given once if u even think that Co2 is still there then look at the answer of test tube 1 it can never be orange so you dont take that assumption and you look at other options.

I don't get what you guys are fighting about here. I can see that the two marking schemes have caused considerable confusion. But I believe the answer is clearly 'D'. Logically it makes sense. CO2 is a non-metal and it is an acidic oxide that realeases hydrogen ions when dissolved in water and that is characteristic of acids. If the CO2 is absorbed then there will be no hydrogen ions present and so the solution will no more be acidic and it will be simply be neutral as it was. Alkaline honay ka tou sawal hi paida hi nahi hota. There is no basic oxide present. So there is no chance that hydroxide ions will be realeased that are characteristics of alkaline solution. Hence, when dark-with the foil around- carbon dioxide will be produced making the solution acidic. And when bright, photosynthesis takes place and CO2 is absorbed, so the solution remains neutral. There IS NO REASON FOR HYDROXIDE IONS TO BE RELEASED, IS THERE? HENCE, THE SOLUTION CAN'T BE ALKALINE.
Hope this helped. If it didn't help and the answer was allready there, then sorry for the time wasted while you read this post. :)

I said, he sent a pm to me. I know you explained it to him. But I didn't see any confirmation message from 'abcde' that he understood properly. So this answer was just for him and for others who didn't get it even after the 3 page hastle. Maybe, they still won't get it. I just had to try.
