anyone know what is the main point or chapter in this paper? is the name of bacteria in this two paper inportant? will there any question about labelling and drawing in paper 2? is the condition of making yoghurt and fermentation important?

is guard cell, structure of heart and its function, blood clotting, life cycle of the vector of malaria- the mosquito, transcription & translation and treatment of sewage, since this all are not listed in the syllabus... is the syllabus worth to trust? im gonna be crazy!!!

Question about the syllabus:
5)(d)describe the symptoms resulting from deficiencies of iron(anaemia). How to describe this? i only know sickle-cell anaemia which is caused by recessive allele...
5)(h)discuss the problems that contribute to famine (unequal distribution of food, drought, and flooding, increasing population).... CAN SOMEONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS? I CANT EVEN FIND A TRACE OF IT IN ANYWHERE!!!

16) (b) describe one named, commercially important application of asexual reproduction in plants. ----- what is the 'one named'?
16) (L) the structure of non-endospermic seed... anyone have the diagram of it? or just normal seed with the endosperm removed?
16) (cc) describe treatment of syphilis... can anyone tell me about this? i only know that syphilis can be treated but i dont know the detail or process...HELP!

17) (d) explain that genes may be copied and passed on to the next generation. HOW TO EXPLAIN?!?!

A VERY BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED ME! ;)
no main point or chapter u gotta cover all of the learing objectives!
u learn the name of bacterias invoved in yogurt making only
ya u need to knw the process AND the conditions for fermenatation and yogurt making!
syllabus is the only thing WORTH trusting!!!
lifecycle of malaria isnt included in syllabus u jus gotta knw that larva and pupa stay in water and the adult mosquito doesn't "transcription & translation and treatment of sewage" this isnt included..:p "guard cell, structure of heart and its function, blood clotting" these are included!! and syllabus mentions them!!
5(d) anameia is caused by lack of iron in which breathlessness occurs as iron helps in haemoglobin formation lack of haemoglobin results in lack of RBCs due to which anamia occurs whose effects are breathlessness...sickle cell anameia is a whole diff. thing!..:O
5(h) read in Mary Jones its very nicely explained there!
16) (b) the "one named" is that farmers use this trait to produce genetically similiar ofsprings in large no which brings more profit to them!..;)
16) (L) i didnt c this in sylabus but if it is there than it would b merely the same seed without endosperm!
16) (cc) you just need to knw that it is treated by antibiotics as it is caused by bacteria no further details are required!..:)
17) (d) hahaha :D u just need to knw that they are copied how ?? by meiosis!!! and the fusion of two haploid nucleus!!!..:)

hope it helped!!!...:)

Thank! it is really helpful! :) (y) but i still didnt get this 3... o_O
i cannot find blood clotting in the syllabus...
what u mean in 5(h)?
there stated 'one named' and it doesnt mean we have to know a name or example of the process? like 'artificial selection' or something like that?

5(h) : there is a book written by Mary Jones that is also assigned to the o levels student along with biology matters. don't u have it? the whole locomotion chapter is to be done from there. also this famine stuff can be done from Biology A Course For O Level (the green book )..... u have that one?
blood clotting is in transport in humans... i don't know if it is in the syllabus or not but just to be safe do it.

It is in syllabus man read abt the process and if u have the Lam Peng kwan then u dont need to know all the details of this enzyme released and that released but u need to know that enzymes released and they cause conversion of soluble fibrinogen to insoluble forming a meshwork with stuck blood cells :D
Make sure u read the process if in doubt look in J 10 P2 question 8 there, look at its Ms that might help u :D

Blood clotting is also called coagulation. It usually happens when the skin breaks and blood is released i.e a cut. The damaged tissues and blood platelets release an enzyme known as thrombokinase.

Thrombokinase converts the inactive prothrombin in the blood to the active thrombin.

Thrombin in turn converts the soluble fibrinogen present in the blood to insoluble fibrin strands. These strands entangle the RBCs to form a clot. The clot prevents further germs to enter the body. The germs that have already entered are first agglutanized by antibodies, then are ingested by white blood cells via phagocytosis.

Usually blood doesnt clot due to the presence of an anti-clotting agent present in blood called heparin, but an additional effect of thrombokinase is to to neutralize the effect of heparin so that clotting can take place.

Clotting requires calcium ions and Vitamin K to occur.

Got my O lvl bio exam tomorrow, so im full of answers today :). Hope i helped!

Im just a new guy here, so im not clear 'bout the rules, werent members asked not to talk about exams 24 AFTER the exams had occured???
Exactly! But some memebers are taking advantage of this thread to discuss the paper content. As the exam is already over, there's no need for content now, is it?
