solve this question for me ..
what volume oxygen ,measured at room temperature and pressure is required for the complete combustion of 8.65g of H2S?
equation : 2H2S+3O2 ->2SO2+2H2O
ans : 9.13
2 of H2S ~ 3 of O2
1 of H2S ~ 3/2 of O2
34.1 g of H2S ~3/2 * 32g of O2
34.1g of H2S ~ 48 g of O2
1g of H2S ~ 1.41 of O2
given, 8.65 g so, 8.65 of H2S ~ 1.41* 8.65g of O2
= 12.2g of O2
moles= mass/mr
so, O2 mr= 32
12.2/32 =0.38 mol
moles= volume /24 at room temp. and pressure
0.38=volume/24
so, volume = 9.13dm3..
