Hello!
Informal leaders are people who are not officially leaders in the business; they may not be the Chief Executive or a member in the Board of Directors. They're normal people who inspire other workers and motivate and bring the best out of them, and have the respect of their co-workers.
Informal leaders motivate workforce and this will consequently improve the performance and productivity of the venture, which will be a huge factor that could contribute to the success of the business. Moreover, they enhance social relationships between the employees, which can also improve the employees' self-esteem and love to the work they do, this is also a factor in the growth of the business.
To add to that, informal leaders know how to communicate well with their colleagues, they can effectively and successfully deliver the message and the information communicated will be more accurate when traveling throughout the level of the hierarchy, time to receive/send the message will be shorter and this will increase the effectiveness of the business.
Also, senior management can use the suggestions and ideas of informal leaders that could aid in making better decisions, this will reduce the chances of failure and losses.
-You can write as many points as possible. There are many advantages of informal leadership; you don't have to necessarily take points from your textbook. Also, elaborate as much as you can, this will give you credit.
Regarding the family business question, these are ventures that are formed from family members. These can have advantages and disadvantages. SOME of the points that you can think of are: Family business can cause problems in the relationships between the family members, this can have a bad impact on the decision-making process. Also, it's hard to separate personal life from work life, members of the family can take some decisions personally. E.g: if the father promoted one of the brothers and didn't promote the other, this will create grudge and problems in the other brother, affecting both family and business relations.
Moreover, family members may promote one of their members because they obviously prefer them, regardless of his/her qualifications; other workers who are not part of the business can have better qualifications.
The questions that can come regarding family businesses are: mention adv. and dis. of starting up a family business and stuff like that.
-Good luck!
