* sum1 plz tel me da correct method of measuring da enthalpy change of a reaction by using bond energies and not da hess law..?

Carboxylic acid do react with metals and bases....dont know bout carbonates...

and while calculating the enthalpy change of a reaction using bond energies....jus use this formula....

Enthalpy= Ethalpy change of reactant- enthalpy change of product.....

suppose this is an xample...N2+ 3H2 ------> 2NH3 and u are provided with data.....[ N2=994( its N triple bond N...) H--H = 436 N--H=390 N--N = 160)))

now calculating enthalpy change is...... (N2) + 3(H2) - 2(3* N--H)....now here dont get confused..coz there are two N bond N given...triple and single..so u shud know N2 has got triple...and other thing..NH3 has got 3N--H..so..

So this gives u 994+(3*436)- {2(3*390)} = u can do this way..!! but the concept is not this one..!! but u will get things correct from this method...so For MCQ...jus know this...u neednot to know other things.>!!
