The filtrate formed is Lead Iodide... Its is yellow in color... When HCl is added to it... I guess Lead Chloride is formed which is white...

The filtrate is barium nitrate........

sulphuric acid reacts with it to form barium sulphate.

remember the test for sulphate ions.

so this is because cl is more reactive than Iodide !

I guess Ramosk95 is right there... They just react its a reaction... Along with Barium Sulphate, Nitric Acid is also produced...

Even if, for some reason, you've never heard of that reaction before, the question tells you that it's added until no more precipitate forms. There is a reaction, the only possible reaction that could be done is displacement, forming lead iodide, which is yellow.

In the second part, he also tells you that a precipitate forms. It has to be barium sulfate, which, because it's not a transition element, is white.

So the answer is c.
