It was very easy compared to that i had been prepared for... Thats awesome.. :D

On the other hand that means that there will more severe correction for this paper by Cambridge or maybe the paper 4 will be tougher... :p :cry:

As far as i remember...

Name the organic compound needed for fermentation

State the conditions for which fermentation would take place more rapidly

Write the equation for the reaction between ethene and steam

Then there is the reaction between ethanol and ethanoic acid.

Name this type of reaction

Name the compound formed

Name the third member of the alcohol homologous series

Draw its structure showing all the atoms and bonds

thats all i think... :D

This is paper 22 BTW

Yes Chief!!! :D

(a) Glucose

(b) Mixture of glucose and yeast kept in air-tight container/ anaerobic condition/ absence of oxygen and a temperature around 37 degrees celcius.

(c) C2H4 + H2O ----> C2H5OH (sorry cant write it properly)
reactions conditions: 350 degrees celcius, 65 atm and H3PO4 catalyst

(d) Esterification

(e) Ethyl ethanoate

(f) Propanol

(g)

Thats what i think...

What ur answers dude?? ;)

Its so simple mohsin.... :)
here are the answers:

1) Glucose

2) COnditions are : * 20-25 degrees centrigrade temperature.
* yeast catalyst
* Anaerobic conditions (no oxygen )

3) C2H4 + H2O --------------------> C2H5OH

4) type of reaction = ESTERFICATION

5) Compund formed = ETHYL ETHANOATE

6) Propanol

7) strucuture of propanol has been attached in i,age .

:) :)
Hope u did all the things rite :)

differnces between graphite and diamond

1. graphite structure is such that carbon atoms are bonded in hexagonal ring in layers while in diamond there are no layers .
2.in dimond each carbon atom is bonded with 4 carbon atons with a bond angle of 109.5 , but in graphite this is not the case

why graphite is soft ?
was this the question or it was
why graphite is soft but diamond hard ?

i just wrote in graphite carbon atoms are bonded in hexagonal ring in layers which slips over eachother when force is exerted while in diamond there are no layer which would slip upoun eachother

Please anybody respond

for the conditions i wrote
1.temperature moderatly high
2. if concentration of reactants is increased

would that be correct ?
