Assalam-o-alaikum wr wb...
if you want to differenciate it with acids then add acidified potassium dichromate (VI)..in acid, no color change will occur but in alcohol, the color changed from orange to green..

or else add potassium permanganate. in alcohol, it will turn colourless from purple.

yes she did! and the answer to test for alcohols is touch it with a lighted splint it burns with a yellow smokey flame. or add a carboxylic acid a sweet smell evolves
