n the absense of catalyst ,ammonia burns in an excess oxygen to produce steam and nitrogen.what is the volume of oxygen remaining when 60 cm ^3 of ammonia is burnt in 100 cm^3 of oxygen :all volumes being measured at same temperature and pressure

options
a) 52 cm^3 b) 35 cm^3 c) 40 cm^3 d) 45cm^3 e) 55 cm^3

Re: Chemistry Please slove as soon as you can .. please help

(e) 55 cm^3.
Balanced equation: 4 NH3 + 3 02 ---> 2 N2 + 6 H20
4 volumes of ammonia react with ---> 3 volumes of oxygen
=> 60 cm^3 of ammonia would react with ---> 3/4 x 60 = 45 cm^3 of oxygen.
Volume of oxygen remaining = 100 - 45 = 55 cm^3.

Re: Chemistry Please slove as soon as you can .. please help

first number of moles: 3 x 10^23/ 200 = 1.5 x 10^-25
I mol has 6.02 X 10^23 no. of particles( molecules in this case)
so, 1.5 X 10^-23 mol has 1.5 x 10^-25 x 6.02 x 10^23 = 0.0903
hope i could help you and i really hope i am not wrong!
