Desperate help in Chemistry 9701 paper 5

How to calculatethe relative formula mass of the basic copper(II) carbonate and the value of x in CuCO3.Cu(OH)2.xH2O by using data from the graph.

It is from Chemistry A level 9701 June 08 paper 5, Question no 2(f).

Please help me as soon as possible , I just dont understand how to find it by using the data from the graph.

Thot of helping.... I mean you can help sometimes its like the person is unable to find the paper or just unable to find something on google... That type of help for the A level mates...



Btw what is AS????

well A level is divided into 2
AS AND A2
AS has paper 1,2 and 3
whereas A2(what she/he is doing) has paper 5 and 6
so im in AS, and therefore cant help her

AS AND A2
AS has paper 1,2 and 3
whereas A2(what she/he is doing) has paper 5 and 6
so im in AS, and therefore cant help her

u may have plotted
mass of Cuo on y-axis
and mass of anhydrous oxide on x-axis

the
gradient= (mass of Cuo)*2 / (Mr) .....according to the chemical eqn given
and Mr = 221+ 18x
suppose gradient is 20/29
...20/29 = mass of Cuo *2/Mr
20(221+18x) = 29((63.5+16)*2)
..X= 0.5

If u have plotted mass of cuo(residue) on x- axis and mass of anhydrous oxide on y-axis..reverse the ratio..

Diwash, I have check my papers. Instead of the answer u given, I have plotted Mass loss in the expt/g in the y axis and mass of cu(II)carbonate in the x axis. I got my gradient as 0.2791 ..

Then I m stuck to do the next step. Please help me

Diwash I tried using y axis as copper oxide as y axis and copper(II) carbonate at x axis . I got the answer. But according to the marking scheme by using Mass loss in the expt/g in the y axis and mass of cu(II)carbonate in the x axis still can get the answer. But I couldn't. Can u try to do first.

And tell me how u manage to get the answer by plotting Mass loss in the expt/g in the y axis and mass of cu(II)carbonate in the x axis ...
