Hello,

I recently sat for my Biology paper 6(atp),1 and 2 and my Chemistry paper 4(atp).
Alhamdulillah all of them went pretty well; better than I expected. Although one of my friends, he had this question which got me thinking too.

In the Chemistry paper 4( alternate to practical) there was a question (no.8) in which we were required to do some titration related problems. the question was divided into a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i.

From f onwards, all the answers depended on the previous answer. My question is - is there Error Carried Forward marks for these?
Because if by chance anyone gets f wrong, he ultimately gets all of them wrong. Which would mean losing 10 marks. I heard of Error Carried Forward marks but I am not sure if it exists in Edexel.

Yes, there is e.c.f. for this according to my knowledge.

If the marking scheme has the ecf wordings after the answer then its in there for edexel too... For ATP Paper O Level Chemistry I guess it isn't there... As its not mentioned in marking scheme either... Its not for every type of question... I remember my teacher cutting the marks for the last two or three parts in Pre Mocks for titration question as I did the 3rd last wrong and the last two were related to it... I had asked him about it but I wasn't marked... For Maths and Physics it makes it easier that ecf is there...

E.C.F is there in Chemistry ATP paper, too! Because the moles question is such that its subsequent parts invariably depend on the previous ones. If, for instance, you get a wrong numerical answer to one part but use the correct method in the later part despite using the wrong substitution (from the previous part), you'll lose marks for the previous part but not the later one as the application is correct.

the calculation questions started after that average wala part nd i think there were only 4-5 one mark questions after that...so plz don't say 10 marks

actually, the 'titration result' was question (d). That was 4 marks, after that there were e,f,g,h,i. each were 1 marks. so is (d) is wrong and there is no ECF, then you'll lose 9 marks.

^^^ That is good... Thanks... Errors are carried through out the question... Marking Scheme didn't mention that...
