I really want to know how the igcse grade threshold are calculated
i've always thought that its the percentage you get and compare it with the curve , However starting from june2011 the gt document for each paper gave u the minimum for an A grade in each component and THEN a table with the minimum total marks you have to get in order to get an A*, A etc
-Then its said that they multiply the marks of each paper by a factor as the total marks mark for the whole subject is different

for eg :BIOLOGY : 40 marks P6 ,80 marks P3 & 40 for P1 which adds up to 160
and the table states total for thiss subject as 200 & this is where some ppl stated each component is multiplied by a factor
P1*1.25 , P6*1 & P3*1.5

Can someone help me plzz ?? this is confusiiiiing :( :(
Thank You

I have no idea how this works, and I don't think any one needs to know.
Just wait for your report card, and hope it's filled with A's and stars x)

its pretty simple math paper 6 = 20% of the mark and paepr 1 is 30 % and paper 3 is 50% so convert paper 6 to 20 and paper 1 to out of 30 and paper 3 to out of 50 multiply it by 2 you get your mark out of 200
Now To Get An A you must get An A in every paper the minimum grade required for An A in the papers combined gives you the mark you need out of 200 to get an A now the difference between A and B add it to A it gives you the total mark you need for A* :) to get the mark of a b find the mark needed for a c and an A out of 200 add them together and divide them by glad to help :D
