yes but it required careful thinking for example if u had a 3 marks qs then u might answer quickly with just one point and hence one mark but two think of three different points/explaining took a hell lot of a time for me at least so i ended like 2 minutes before the exam ended as i wrote everything in detail didnt rush through the paper :(

anyways the paper was easy but its easy to lose marks couldnt think of much points in some questions for example i had just 1 point in a 3 marks question nd in 5 marks question had only 3 points :(
:(
had difficulty in time management
there was a cat in our hall and the supervisor thought it was us who were making meowwwwwwwww noise so she took all statements of entry frm PK209 but tht wasnt my centre :)

long??? I was looking for the more questions,lol. Seriously, shouldn't have taken more than 1:30 (at max) barring extraordinary circumstances

ABA stomatal closure essay

1 ref. ABA absence ;
2 H+ transported out of guard cells, actively / using ATP ;
3 low H+ conc / negative charge, inside cell ;
4 K+ channels open / K+ diffuses into cell ;
5 water potential of cell falls ; A decrease in solute potential
6 water moves into cell by osmosis ;
7 volume of guard cells increase / turgor increases ;
guard cells:
8 have hoops of cellulose microfibrils which ensure increase in length rather than
diameter ;
9 have ends that are joined together ;
10 have, thicker inner walls / thinner outer walls ;
11 curve apart / bend, (to open stoma) ;

11 seed absorbs water ;
12 by osmosis ;
13 gibberellin produced by embryo plant ;
14 passes to aleurone layer ;
15 switches on / activation, transcription enzyme genes / AW ;
16 storage proteins broken down to amino acids ;
17 stimulates synthesis / release of amylase ;
18 amylase diffuses / moves into endosperm ;
19 breaks down / hydrolyses starch to maltose ;
20 maltose to glucose ;

individuals in population have great reproductive potential
numbers in population remain roughly constant ;
variation in members of population ;
environmental factors
(cause) many, fail to survive / die / do not reproduce ;
those best adapted survive / survival of the fittest ;
(reproduce to) pass on alleles ; R genes
genetic variation leads to change in phenotype ;
changes in, gene pool / allele frequency ;
over time produces evolutionary change ;
new species arise from existing ones / speciation ;

I don't remember the fifth blank but the answer is above

Advantages of immobilization
end product not contaminated;
enzyme, more stable/less likely to be denatured;
enzyme recovery easier;
idea of enzyme being reused;
AVP; e.g. cost

excuse me, wasn't the question on closing of the stomata with ABA
it has to be added that ABA can bind to the receptors of proton pump so H+ does not transports out, and bla bla

yes yes, but we write this stuff first right? =O i wrote this and then wrote that ABA inhibits the H+ pump so causes the stomata to stay flaccid :no:
