Think here's what he tried to convey.. HCO2H could be oxidised by the oxidants that oxidise aldehydes (in this case, Fehling's), it's not that HCO2H can be oxidised to form an aldehyde, but I think what the question stated was that HCO2H can be oxidised the same way aldehydes are oxidised.. So essentially the question said that HCO2H, similar to aldehydes, can be oxidised by Fehling's or Tollen's, etc.. Question was pretty weird tho, one of my friends also answered another carboxylic acid as well..
