tan(inv)2x =sqrt( 2x + 2), which is the same as part (ii) except that it is 2x instead of x in this case. So, just divide by the root from part (ii) by half and correct it to 3 sf

^ Absolutely correct. Answering in more detail, replace x with 2x and then simplify the equation using simple trigonometric identity in the following way:
tan2x=√2x+2
tan²2x=2x+2 then add 1 on both sides
tan²2x+1=2x+3 using the trigonometric identity tan²Θ+1=sec²Θ
sec²2x-2x-3=0 to show the equation shown. You can then determine the root.
