Hey guys, i urgently need some help in Math(4024) Vectors. I am unable to do two past paper questions. Firstly, May/June 2004 Q11b/(iv) and (v) part. And May/June 2006 Q11 (b) complete.

I'd be very grateful if you take out the time to explain these questions to me.

THanks!

May/June 2004

Q11b/(iv)

OX is parallel to QY
==> hQY=OX

Put the OX and QY values here...

Then compare the both sides after expanding to find the value of k...

(v) part.

As OX is parallel to QY

When you extend the line OX it meets PY at Z...

Making QYZO a parallelogram...

So OZ=QY
Find OZ...

Then PZ = PO + OZ

May/June 2006 Q11 (b) complete.

(i)
When it says R lies on PQ it means the points are collinear...

Collinear points have same gradients..

So gradient of PQ= PR

it will give you h...

(ii) PU= PQ + QU

Put values and solve...

(iii) When U is the mid point of QS, it means

QU= 1/2 QS

Put the values and solve...

If you still have any confusion... You can ask... By the way don't forget to mention the PAPER numbers next time... :)
