man ur answer gave me heart attack i didnt noticed square root written -_______________-cos(theta)=k
sin(theta)= under root (1-k^2)
tan(theta)=under root (1-k^2)/k .so why negative ???
Didn't it ask for the range of h(x) and not h-1(x)...so wont it be -2?AS MATHS P1. MAY 2014. ANSWERS
1, (3.5, 0).
2, -145
3, (i) -root (1-k^2).
(ii) - root (1-k^2)/k
(iii) Theeta is reflex and lies in between 270-360.
Hence, 2 Theeta lies in between 540-720, which is 7th and 8th quadrant (3rd and 4th corresponding).
Since sin is always negative in 3rd and 4th quadrant, the value of sin 2 Theeta will be negative for 0<k<1.
4, (i) p = 2
(ii) Perimeter = 34.1 cm
5, (ii) 116.6 deg. and 296.6 deg.
6, (i) r = 1.5
(ii) For G.P, T4 = 27.
For A.P, T4 = 9.5
7, (ii) 12i + 9j - 2k (in cartesian form).
8, Maximum point is (-2, 10 5/6) or (-2, 10.83).
9, (ii) y = x/2 + 11/2
(iii) Area = 7/12 or 0.583 units^2.
10, (i) x = 5
(ii) g(x) >= -4
(iii) x < -6 or x >2
(iv) p = -4
(v) -2
(vi) h(x) = root(x + 4) - 2, for x >= -4.
