Need Help In Translocation And Phloem Transport!!

lol Phloem isn't transported itself :p it transports products of photosynthesis + other products.

Consider Phloem as a long tube running across the length of a leaf along with xylem. Companion cells actively uptake the sucrose from the mesophyll cells and pass it on to the phloem cell via plasmodesmata. Water potential in the phloem cell decreases resulting in an influx of water from the surrounding cells + xylem pits... Uploading of source occurs at the source. Uptake of water increases the water potential in the upper part of phloem tube.

At the sink, sucrose is being removed by the cells, followed by the water movement by osmosis, reducing water potential at the sink.

Water moves from a higher water potential to a lower water potential taking along sucrose,amino acids and fatty acids from source to sink.

This is how PHLOEM TRANSPORTS sucrose :p
