Assalamoalaikum wr wb!
We surely CAN detect pain in our eyes and brain..
For instance when something goes in our eyes don't we know about it? We do cuz it hurts! Same thing is with the brain..we can sense pain (like see people who have brain tumor) but the thing is that we know on one side their is the pain receptor and on the other side (Y) there should be spinal cord as the impulses are first taken there and then a response is shown..
