yar plzzzzzzzz tell me one thing...
I got a C in AS phy at 63%
B in chem, A in maths and BS

should i give a retake of phy??? And why?? I want to go for engineering.. And wat if this grade in phy in mantained in A2????

A2 Physics has a much higher weightage.
Only if you are damn confident about scoring over 95% in A2, then stick to it otherwise retake is a better option!

and tell me whats the criteria for equivalency now??? Is a commerce sub considered if u want to make a certificate of eng.??? And how much deduction in percentages is done???

With the introduction of A*, C is no longer considered a good grade.
Aim for a minimum of B cause when it comes to equivalency, things start getting really messy!!
90% to 100% is downscaled to 85%
80% to 90% is downscaled to 75%
70% to 80% is downscaled to 65%
and so on...

You should re-take your AS Physics as that's not a decent grade at all for pre-engineering student.

the article was great... But I still believe nthing can be done... However, I have decided not to go for a retake of phy exam. If I score an A in phy in A2, my grade will automatically turn in to B.

umm..yeah same prob here..but in my case i gotta go for meds as in mbbs..i scored a C in physix at 60 nd B at 71 in bio nd chem 80 A..wut do i do.shud i retake?im cunfused coz i expected an A coz the paper wux awsum..but after getting the shocking result i m totally shattered as to if i retake wud i score lower?my bio teach says not to retake for physix coz she says it aint required for meds..plz tell me wut to do =(

To get an equivalence of Pre-Engineering you need to pass Phys, Chem, Maths or Computer/ICT.

I think retaking Physics is your right decisions.
for your next question:
how one can get A* as he has B(equivalence formula reduces the marks ).
If you are appearing in Maths as well then some tips are here;

If you are appearing in Oct/2010 do your works more than double of your routine.

If you have completed and revised all the past papers till to date then you are
on the destination(it does not mean that no further practice is required)

but if you are still covering your syllabus then much work is needed because
just more than a month has left for exam's commencement .

for practice solve all the questions from classified(it may starts from 80s).

manage in such a way that you may solve atleast two to three topics a day.

dont put much stress on your body. when you feel that body is reacting
then stop doing and relax to become fresh(you can take a shower, close your eyes and ears(by putting fingers) simultaneously for atleast 5-10 min to get more relaxed , physical activity like playing game, but watching moving will not relax your nerves because while watching ,your mind's concentration focuses there and head appears to be more weighted(fatigued). )
Take a sound sleep.

Yes its possible but the probability is dead low!

A2 Weightage of individual components are available in syllabuses.
