i think because.....plants have little stored or not stored glucose when they die....they are moslty used up to makea stuff like cellulose ....so when they die the decomposers basically decompose living matter ( like cell wall)....

This is so confusing. Why can't the answer to this be B? I mean what if hormones are not synthesised due to the lack of proteins, like if throxine is not produced, the normal growth of a person is greatly impaired.

not all hormones are proteins
and the amount required for them is very less as compared to growth
