Physics Paper 5 2011 Help

I haven't been able to attend a single class of Paper 5 , The question 2 which involves drawing the graph is ok to me, But I'm having trouble with the first question.
I have no idea what a independent and dependent variable is .

if someone could post below a link that can teach from scratch or just help me out in how to answer the first question by giving me a solved paper or something.
Your help will be appreciated.

go for past papers of 2010....read the mark schemes carefully..tht vl help

just know the instruments
read the syllabus
3 marks for writing the problem i.e independent varaible.. dependent varaible and the varaible to be controlled
method to measure, calculate of find the varaiblesis for 5 marks . this includes diagram
dont worry for a diagram just draw the correct position of instruments
2-3 for the conclusion youll get .. better use of graphs
u just need to state the axes to be used x for independent and y for dependent
2 for safety and precaution just one-one
4 for additional data
othe safety measures
the trend of graph
how you keep certain varaibles constant

a rough sketch would be better and time saving

if y=ax^b equation is given then stating lgy= lga + blgx gain 1 mark
