Reaction of sulphur with chlorine

I know the product is disulphur dichloride S(2)CL(2), but why is it not written as SCL on the websites and textbook as oxidation number of sulphur is +2?

Your question doesn't makes any sense, it is written as S2Cl2 because of its original bonding. Consider writing benzene as CH instead of C6H6. CH shows that carbon forms only one bond - is that possible?
