Hi!
I've just completed my IGCSEs and will be doing Cambridge International AS & A Levels starting next year. As of now, I'm pretty sure I'll be doing math, accounting, economics, business studies and English as my subjects.

I'm thinking of getting some good textbooks and revision guides now so that I don't have to search once my classes start - I assume I'll be very busy then!

Could you guys please help me out and recommend the best and most useful textbooks and revision guides for Math, Economics, Accounting, Business Studies, English?

Thank you so much!!!!! :)

https://www.xtremepapers.com/community/threads/useful-compiled-stuff.13393/ --- this thread is an excellent collection of books, study guides etc

https://sites.google.com/site/bs9707/Home/revision-notes ---- Business Studies

video lectures
khanacademy.com --- for math, economics, further math
www.youtube.com/user/iNinjaNotes‎ --- for accounting
also check TTC torrents if you want more formal video lectures
http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/6867629/ --- these are also good math video lectures
https://www.youtube.com/user/HEGARTYMATHS --- for math - A-level Edexcel, AQA etc
http://www.mathstutor.biz/ --- GCE A-level math

practice questions with solutions
schaums outlines -- for math, economics, accounting ---- download em via piratebay.com, 4shared.com, scribd.com

also get candidate response booklets from
http://www.cie.org.uk/cambridge-for/teachers/order-publications/

sample candidate response booklet
http://papers.xtremepapers.com/CIE/Cambridge International A and AS Level/Applied Information and Communication Technology (9713)/9713_Applied_ICT_Example_Candidate_Responses_Booklet_WEB.pdf

btw it will be better for you if you leave the typical A-level mind set of 'this is not in the course so i won't learn this'... it is horrible to see that even teachers recommend students that they should focus only on the course material, it is because of this that students end up being so inflexible that find it very difficult to adjust to the Business School life... because what ever you study in Accounts, Economics, Business Studies is so far away from reality that you will not be applying almost any of it in the real world ....because most of the work you will end up doing in your career will be on software and documentation... so depending upon your chosen field learn the related software and also get internships to figure out what kind of a career you want

if you tell me what you think you want to do for your career i will be able to guide you more specifically.. however, if you do not have any idea about your career, which is perfectly fine for any student at this age .. then u can refer to the generic advice below

and for your career do not listen to people who say economist, accountant, engineer, business... it doesn't work like that in the real world .. because careers are based upon the type of organization, the departmental or functional divisions within an organization and the jobs found in those departments for example:-
Marketing
Finance/Accounts
Human Resources
Legal
Operations/Supply Chain
Research

and this is how the subjects you study now are interrelated as well as what you will study at the Undergrad Level
refer to this link http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/
i. Economics becomes very mathematical as you progress, so you need to learn to be good at Math (not Syllabus D Math but Additional Math/A-level Math is the real math) to do this Social Science
ii. Stats and probability leads to Statistical Inference which in turn leads to Econometrics... and Econometrics is used for Empirical Research purposes in EVERY field
iii. Sociology is an open field -- with Economics (and remember economics is mathematical) alongside you head towards public policy issues OR with Psychology alongside you head towards consultation AND with either Eco or Psycho with Sociology you can head towards Consumer Behaviour (first few chapters in Economics includes consumer behaviour) and Marketing
iv. With Economics you can also head into Finance but understanding Accounting is essential, since Accounting is the basis of all things Finance
v. Accounting is also the basis of Risk Management, however for Risk Management (btw Actuarial Sciences is a type of risk management related to insurance) you need to have a good basis of Math Stats and Econometrics for Actuarial
vi. With Maths and Stats you can also head into Operations Research (also called Management Sciences) and Quantitative Finance
vii. The subject computer sciences is useless the way it is taught ... instead i suggest you learn python, javascript, SQL, Excel with VBA .. learn them gradually till you finish your A-levels... so that by the time you are done with your A-levels you actually have learn a skill related to software development
viii. Business Studies as a course gives you a glimpse of what you will study at a business school for your regular BBA ... Marketing, Accounts/Finance, Management, Operations, Project Management .. so think of the generic BBA courses as an extension of Business Studies

so as a start try to begin to understand Finance and Money/Banking...use khanacademy.com for this purpose.... that way you will be able to link Accounting, Economics, Finance and a bit of Business Studies... btw the Sections in Business Studies later go on to become separate subjects (courses) at the BBA level.. like marketing, operations management, etc

also learn Excel (including its VBA) then you will be able to see how work is done in the field of Finance
Excel is Fun is a good channel www.youtube.com/user/ExcelIsFun
this is the link for the excel sheets that correspond to the video tutorials http://people.highline.edu/mgirvin/excelisfun.htm

http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/8197797/ --- this is an excellent collection for learning excel
