Hello,peeps.

This is Somaiyah here and I'll begin with my O-levels this year, hopefully.

I'm interested in the "Humanity group" but couldn't opt for it as none of the other students were doing so and it is obvious the school won't just segregate me with a class where I'm the only student.

Hence,I decided to do the subjects, namely Sociology,World history,English Literate and maybe Environmental management, privately. I'm focusing on Sociology and World history,my ultimate favorite,as for now and I've purchased the sociology book as well but can't get the other one.

I guess,I should stop babbling and get to the point.

People say,I'm in a rush and I must wait till school get started so I'm introduced to the O-level system and then decide when to give the paper. It has also been told to me,sociology being an easy subject can be covered in a short span of time, precisely three months.

My question is,is it true? Is it really that easy and should I give the exams in November 2014.

One more challenge that I may face in O-levels,time management. See,the thing is I'm not comprehensive and take a hell lot of time in solving a question, not that I don't know the answers,I just add a lot of stuff.

Can somebody also help me with the aforementioned problem?

Understanding my problems/queries,right?

Thank you.

Sociology and World history are easy O Level subjects but that does not guarantee you an A grade in them. Both of them require specific exam strategies and obviously you aren't aware of them since you've just entered O Levels (I'm not just talking about these subjects but O Levels on the whole). It'll be wise if you first attend your classes for your major subjects and do past year papers and get an idea of the exam technique, in the first year at least. You should appear for the CIE exams only after you're introduced to the technique used to solve Cambridge questions (which is different for humanities compared to sciences) and secondly because major subjects are primary concerns and you should make your base in the first year.

My suggestions: Give Sociology in Oct/Nov 2015 (you'll have time to prepare it in summer breaks) + Its paper pattern and a small potion of its syllabus has been changed for examinations from May/June 2015 onwards.
Environmental Management in Oct/Nov 2016 (it's mostly based on Geography of Pakistan Studies so you won't have to study much for it after appearing in your Pakistan Studies and Islamiyat papers), and do World History along with it.

P.S: One should never sacrifice his major subjects for extras. Good luck.

I'll share my experience.

Crammed Sociology in like 3-4 days. Solved not even a single past paper, didn't even look. Was completely un-aware of the past paper questions.
The exam day was hard for me. But somehow completed the paper.
Read selective chapters. (Yes, there is a lot of choice. 3 out of 8 questions in paper 2, and something like that in paper 1)
Expecting a B. (Hoping that i get an A, by a miracle or something - But it's only a slight chance).

Could have gotten an A* easily, or something greater, if i had studied it for a month. That's how general and easy this subject is.
Anyone with good English skills, and common sense, and time, can master the subject in that much time.

All i know is you should give extra subjects in any sessions you get. You have 6 available sessions, in your O-Level, if you do it in 3 years. Do not waste them.
I made that mistake. And realized that in my final year, 4 months before exams in May-June 2014. Had to take up 7 new extra subjects at once, which i hadn't studied before, ever.
I took Economics, Business studies, Environmental Management, ICT, Sociology, Commerce, Add-Maths as the 7 extra subjects, along with 6 compulsories. (Gave Pakstudies and Islamiat, before, in 2nd year)
Gets a bit tough when you give 13 subjects in the same session. So don't make the same mistake.

World History, Sociology, Environmental Management. Give these any chance you get!
You seem hardworking, so study them in the summer vacations, you get in between these 3 years.

But yeah, you should get a teacher, or study them in school, if that's available. (I didn't, took them late)
It's best if you study using the techniques and stuff, because unlike me you have 3 whole years. That's a lot of time to read the marking schemes, and examiner reports, and the other stuff that people read.

But DO NOT give them in Oct-Nov 2014. As your post says, you are not properly developed according to the required standards.
You face difficulties in time-management, so giving them this session is not a good idea for you. Try some other session, Oct-Nov 2015, or 2016 or something. Loads of chances.

Good Luck!
