Starting with A-Levels- Need Urgent Help.

I'm just over with my O'levels- and thinking to do A-levels privately in one year. I've some questions, which I'll list down in bullets form- answer as many as you can.Please!

- What are the basic cons of doing A'levels privately, besides the loss of competitive environment etc. I mean will solely the fact that I did my Alevels privately (and not just he grades, say I get A in all) can lessen my chances of getting my admission in foreign university?

- How many subjects you recommend in case of pvt. I'm thinking to take 3- more could be difficult to manage in one year. Are three enough? With school I can take 5 though

- Should I take GP in pvt? Or English language? How is GP different from the latter? I want to be in touch with any 'English-type' subject.

- Which subject are better recommended if I'm planning to do ACCA in future. I'm thinking of taking Account, Economics, and the one from the bullet above. I won't take Math, because I literally suck at it, neither I' haven't taken Add Maths in O'levels.

I dont think u will face any problems even if u take A level in private...!! and that doesnot reduce ur chance of gettin admission abroad..!!

and talking bout ur subject...I think 3 with a english language or gp is ok..!! ...n i dont have any idea regardin non science subject...and i dont know bout english language too..!!

hey,
I guess there is no problem in taking 3 commerce subjects if you are a private candidate. But i guess if you are thinking of taking the science subjects i guess you should be joining some school or tuition center.
secondly, is there are drawback? so i don't think there is any except for the fact when you are filling the form they might ask for teacher's recommendation from the teachers who have taught you in last 2 years. if you fill up this year then you can utilize you o-level teachers.

thirdly, GP. Yes you should give as this would help you in preparing youself for wiritng long essays and research work required would increase your knowledge as well.
For ACCA, i would recommend you to take mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Business Studies. GP is AS level, so if you WANT then you may but I don't think it wuold be really helpful in future if you plan doing ACCA.
Mathematics is HIGHLY recommended because it is somtimes compulsary for admission in universities. It won't matter much if you haven't taken add-maths, go to a good teacher and pratice a lot of questions. surely, you can do it as well.. (never be afraid of any subjects, these would make you learn more and you'll benefit a lot in future)

I'm getting confused with the difference in A and AS level. :/

And do you think three subjects are manageable in single year. I think it does, because Olevels forms a good base and commerce subjects are a bit easier to handle.

^Look, AS is Half credit & A level is Full credit. Usually students complete A levels in two years, appearing AS in the first & A2 in the second, or all papers in one go at the end of 2 years.
Umm I think for Commerce, it is, because a girl in our school did it last year.. but that'll mean NO & I literally mean NO SOCIAL LIFE, You'll need hell lotta planning!
I think you could take English as a First Language, it's not that difficult to cope with.

Actually....Its equivalent to 11th and 12th grade...Jus understand this way...As level=11th grade...and A2 level=12th grade...combining both As n A2...we call it A level..!

I strongly discourage giving General Paper because it is half credit and most universities do not count it as a subject. Instead, I would advice you to give AS English Language. It is a full credit subject and is a lot more interesting, moreover, it is counted as a subject by universities, so getting an A in it will really be worth it.

One year and 3 subs for A levels ? It'll be HELL on earth.. Its really difficult if you're not a straight As top of your class student. Private or school doesnt matter much to universities abroad.. Extra curricular does, so make sure u have a good standing in things other than study. I dont recommend against private, but i do say take full two years rather than one.

And maths.. Simply, take it. Foreign Universities REALLY want students who have maths.
And if u are going for ACCA , then Accounting, Maths and AICT are an accountants top choice.. They'll be the most helpful.. Spend 2 years and add a fourth, i.e. english.. And thats a dream combo for ACCA
With these 4 As and a good SAT score.. Unis will be over u like drooling pets... Again.. 2 years seriously recommended..
Plus u will be private so u really have to be active on ur part.. No laziness or u are screwed

this is gonna be hard man...i mean if u take the first year of study and then think about it..AS economics and maths is manageable, AS accounting is gonna get to u. i just finished my exams this session but i gave accounts privately. i studied A level business, maths and economics. AS level physics, GP and accounting. accounting i finished in 5 months and it was very hectic..so to be respectful i recommend do not rush into it. u will waste time and money if u screw up, and besides 1 year is not much and if u enroll in some school u can make friends have fun and what not. but if u are damn good then ur plan is cool too..ur gonna end up graduating 1 year early man

Just want to be in uni as fast as I can- I'm already 18 by the end of O'levels. Plus, I think I can save a bit by doing them privately in one year- and so could spend more on a good university.

I've seen people doing three A'levels in one year. I think I could manage it too. I already have a good grasp over economics and accounts because of O'levels- and won't think these subjects in A'levels would be hell too difficult. English language could be fun.

It will be counted as a full subject. I'm also giving it, so I know.
It's a really interesting subject, and really explores the different types of creative writing. Although, it will be quite a change from IGCSE English [if you took it as a second language], it won't be that much of a change if you took English as a first language in IGCSE.

when applying to 'foreign' universities keep in mind, it's highly recommended to apply from a school. Nevertheless, you can also give 3 A'levels in 1 year through school if you approach the principal.
P.S. Come on, the competition is DAMN tough now adays, why do you plan for 3 subjects with only 2 majors?
Be practical......take 4-5 subjects with 4 majors with diversity (it's always preferred) and give yourself a time of 2 years.
If you do it in 1 year (almost 10 months now) you will feel it so hard that you'll have to repeat them ( God Forbid)
It's your future, give it some time and yourself too, O levels and a levels is a HELL difference, you cannot even think to compare O levels with A levels

Talking about applying thrugh a school, look, only a school will be able to award u with certificates in co-curricular activities which is needed for ur application + your teacher's comment's about you + everything needed

about your age, come one sir, does not matters at all!!! at the end what will matter will be where are you studying, not that at which age are you studying.....people do waste their 1-2 years

Think.....and then decide. It's you're future, deserves a bit of your thinking.....

yes that is correct and what about SAT 1 and 2 are they also like the the A level
