can anyone tell abt the standard deviation's question .. whther or not we can tell that sd would change ???

i think it was not possible to tell..i wrote not possible..dont know the correct answer.

Yea it wud not be possible To tell...
Coz we dont know the actual value of a single variable 'X'

yar but since the mean has changed the standard deviation would also change.......so it was possible to tell that the standard deviation would change............

does anyone agree wid me???

Yes because SD deviate from mean and since mean has change so do Sd.But not sure

does not change with addition nor with subtraction........it only changes with multiplication and divison

Exactly S.D only chnges with multiplication and we did not know dat weather the mean was gettin multiplied or added by a particular value..so S.D wud not be possible

Lets take the example.Assume that the sum of squares of variables are 500.
Now SD=500/48 - 2.5 square under root =2.04
Then new set of same data
Sum of squares of variables X =500+5square+5square=550
SD=550/50 - 2.6 square under root= 2.06

this means that the standard deviation should also change....................

yar is it posssible to get an A* if i get 170 out of 200.......

Yar paper 1 mein tou sab ke 10 se 11 marks kat rahe hai or paper 2 mein 5 se 6.So i think A* is possible but A is also good
