Due to the lid the hot watervapours wont come into direct contact with outside. Rate of evoparation decreases so the rate of cooling does. Experiment would be
take two pots of boiling water of same temp . Cover one of them. Then after smtime check their
temp. It wont be equal. The covered pot would have higher temp.
