confusion here, please help!

none taken...see there sometimes when you solve you may have to do it randomly or use the order of operation, for calculations, could be anything...is there any specific rule to what way we are supposed to use.

when you are using substraction or additon, you have to go just according to the sequence.
but if there are multiplications or divisions, there is a rule that you must solve the multiplication or division steps first.
For instance, x= 4*2+3/1+1+2
= (8)+3+(1+2)
x=8+3+3= 14

the rule is BODMAS (brackets, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction) it needs to be done in that order....
n unless this is for C1, u can put the entire sum into ur calculator and it'll give u the right answer
the correct answer will be -1

oh my bad iv written it wrong its supposed to be 1 = 8 - 12 + 4 - C

its ok ^_^ i guessed dere shuld've been an unknown dere
well then it rearranges to 1-8+12-4 = -C, which calculates to give.....C= -1
btw.... did u get the answer to what u asked? or was it sumthing else u wanted?

true that if you rearrange it you get +1
what if you do
1 = 8 - 12 + 4 - C
so C = 8 - 12 +4 -1
=8 - 16 -1
= -9
