    whyyy ? depends on the molecule next to it hydrogen is usually +1 oxygen is -2 etc (i dont remember the rest).. know the exceptions as well and then in the for example : (MO)^-3 : in this case the whole molecule is raised to -2 , so you need to get the total of both-2 O stands for oxygen ...
