    Physics paper 1 May/June2011 discussion

In past papers I did the day before, I saw a similar sort of question come up before, where the pressures of two barometers were compared, both of which showed the same height but one had a bigger tube, and the pressure was the same, which is from where I made my assumption.

    Biology paper 6 tips ^_^

Well, once you have completed the tally chart, you should then notice that the class width for each of them is the same. In a histogram and as the classes aren't continuous, the class boundaries have to be used. (If you are unaware of what they are let me know, but I presume you do because you...

    Physics paper 1 May/June2011 discussion

I put On Off On. Many people are saying that it was On On On as there was a route for the current to take. However, the current usually takes the simplest and quickest route, which would omit the 2nd lamp, but I guess nobody really knows, we're just all guessing :D

    Biology paper 6 tips ^_^

With the labelling, I usually stick to the names of the variables. Example: Human - 280. Pig - 285. I would label using the names. The width of the bars again I think depends on the class width, if you give me a paper with the question, I should be able to get a better idea, done lots of...

URGENT HELP NEEDED ON DRAWING BIO PAPER 6 GRAPHS!

Exactly. It is the easiest exam for drawing graphs in my opinion. Couldn't have put it better myself, thanks for the mark layout, I didn't know that you only had to use half, I was going in with the idea of using the entire axis no matter how awkward the scale. :D

    Physics paper 1 May/June2011 discussion

On a previous past paper, the answer was energy, and as you said a capacitor stores charge, and as the time goes by, the reading shown on a voltmeter increases, which means that it's energy is increasing no? As for the barometer question, firstly, the pressure was the same on both of the days...

    Physics Paper 6

Well, they calculate your grade by calculating a weighted mark. There are a set of boundaries which are the same every year, which is the weighted mark. The mark on a paper changes. So say I got 32/40, on a paper 1 which was the lowest grade for an A that year. I would get a weighting of 80...

URGENT HELP NEEDED ON DRAWING BIO PAPER 6 GRAPHS!

In Biology, line graphs are always point to point using a rule, unless told to draw a line of best fit. Usually, you will have to draw a line graph, although they do sometimes ask you to draw a bar graph or a histogram. With both a bar chart and a histogram, you plot the variable being...

    Physics paper 1 May/June2011 discussion

C is correct, The capacitor stores energy and the atmospheric pressure was the same in both barometers.

    Biology paper 6 tips ^_^

A histogram is a bar chart without gaps in between. In maths it uses frequency density, but in Biology it just uses the frequency, which is what our teacher told us to do. Hope I helped (:

English First Language 0500 Paper 3

They usually give topics which people are easily able to describe readily. Possibly parties, streets, special ocassions, sad ocassions. Narratives usually include one type which asks you to begin in a certain way, and another which asks you to make a certain subject central to your story. The...

Hmm, I used to use freeexampapers.com for Past Papers a couple of years older than the ones that XP has. If you want to go further than those, no idea I'm afraid.

Starch: Iodine, observe a colour change from brown to blue-black. Reducing Sugars: Cut or grind off a small sample and add it to water to attempt to dissolve it. Then add Benedict's solution and heat using a waterbath. Observe a colour change from blue to brick-red. Protein: Cut or grind off a...

    Maths

Hmm, well seeing as I'm doing AS Level, I can't remember any of the top questions, as for dy/dx, it is differentiating if you did not know. I won't solve them for you, but simply explain how to differentiate with the help of an example. If I had: x^3 + 2x^2 -3x + 3 You multiply by the...

    HELP in physics paper 6!!

Still slightly confused. I have found the 10.1 value for 0.15A current, but isn't the total resistance in the circuit at that point X+10.1? I don't understand how you arrived at 10.1 just by multiplying by 0.3

    HELP in physics paper 6!!

Huh, I didn't get what you said. If you multiply current by 0.3 you get 0.15, I get that, but how is the resistance 10.1, the markscheme said 10... I did get 10.1 too, but a different way. Basically, I did V=IR Which implies 0.15(10.1 + X) = V But from the initial reading in (a), you know...

    HELP in physics paper 6!!

Triangle method is simply what you do in maths. Picking two points on the line, and forming a triangle and using the equation. y2 - y1 / x2 - x1 if you get what I'm saying. If it's a curve, you may have to draw a tangent to estimate the gradient. To draw the curve, simply plot you points, and...

    Biology paper 6 tips ^_^

I didn't know Auxin was included in p6 :O What type of questions will they ask? Auxin is the plant hormone which is more concentrated in the darker side, and causes the rapid growth of cells, thus causing the plant of bend towards the light. It's used in selective weedkillers as it makes them...
