    I think 2^12... I listed and calculated all possibilities using 3 coins instead of 12. I got 8. So i figured that would be 2^3=8. Since it was 12 in the question i just substituted 3 by 12 and ended up with 2^12. I'm not sure but it's the best logic I've come up with, like the closest I can get...
