    Chemistry MCQ thread...

The answer's C, but shouldn't it be B? There's already one ketone group and then you get another on oxidation, which is 2. Or does the other C=C bond in the benzene ring have something to do with it?

how many marks on avg u get CHEM mCqS

I think it's D. When you heat an ammonium salt and a base, NH3 is given off. (I just change the Ds to hydrogen - it makes it easier). 2 and 3 aren't right because they're in D20 (H20) and I'm pretty sure the reactants have to be solids.

    chem mcq...

This MCQ was removed from the examination, right? I read something on the ER, saying the statistics were unsatisfactory so it was removed. And I also have another difficult MCQ (well, I think it is). http://www.xtremepapers.me/CIE/Internat ... 4_qp_1.pdf Question 31. I reaaally don't get it...

IF anyone arrives late for paper at the centre..

Well, I was late for my biology practical. Reporting time was 8:00am, the exam started at 09:00am and I got there at about 09:20am. They still let me take it and they just asked that if I needed extra time I'd have to file a report. But my head teacher came with so maybe that's why they let me in?

Biology P22 Was Quiet Easy !!!!

At first I wrote that all the enzyme active sites are full, and they're working at their max. rate (since there was more oil than enzyme) but then I changed it and said that substrate concentration becomes limiting - no more triglycerides are being converted, so the pH remains constant.

I wrote more or less the same stuff - let's hope it's right!

Oh well, it was only 2 marks or something.

Biology P22 Was Quiet Easy !!!!

RBCs don't have a nucleus - no DNA means no code for proteins (enzymes are proteins!). Replication and all that can't take place either. And there's no RER for protein synthesis and transport.

Biology P22 Was Quiet Easy !!!!

    I said they were small 'cause they've just divided (gone through cytokinesis) so they've yet to go through interphase, which is where the cells grow to their proper size. But I think I wrote prophase when I was meant to write interphase - ugh. D;

    Chemistry 9701/P22

The one for either an aldehyde or ketone was with 2,4-DNPH and you'd see an orange precipitate. Then, to confirm an aldehyde you would use either Tollens' reagent (and get a silver precipitate) or with Fehling's solution which turns from blue to red.

    Chemistry 9701/P22

I wrote it's about how the earth is getting hotter because of the huge increase in CO2 levels (since industrialisation and stuff started). CO2 absorbs the infrared radiation given off by the earth when it cools at night but because there's so much CO2 now it's absorbing too much heat. I think...

    Chemistry 9701/P22

    If 0.04 moles reacted, then 0.06 moles were left at equilibrium. 0.06 x 0.06 / 0.04 x 0.04 = 2.25 =/ I wrote 0.44

    Chemistry 9701/P22

I totally messed this bit of the question up. I wrote that it was BaSO4 and that H2O2 was the other product. I couldn't think of anything else!
